Affirmative Action Plan

Overview

An Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) is a combination of policies and procedures.

Its purpose is to prevent discrimination and promote equal employment opportunities for:

• Women
• Minorities
• People with disabilities

How to use your plan

Your plan is a tool to help you:

• Look at your workforce
• Identify problems
• Develop solutions
• Measure progress toward workforce diversity

Certificate of Compliance

You can submit a Certificate of Compliance from one of the following agencies instead of an Affirmative Action Plan.

• Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR)
• City of St. Paul
• Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association (MMCA)
• National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)

After we receive your plan

• We have up to 30 days to approve it.
• Once approved, you do not have to submit another plan for three years.

How we let you know your plan is approved

We will email an approval letter that include the following information.

• The date of approval
• The date the approval expires
• Who to contact if you have questions

The state has set workforce goals for state construction projects. We follow the state goals for our City construction contracts.
