Express limited permits for contractors
You may be able to apply for a home improvement permit with this tool. You must be a pre-approved, licensed contractor.
Eligible types of work
Exterior
Repairing or replacing:

- Same-size windows
- Drain tile
- Tuckpointing
- Stucco/plaster
- Reroofs
Plumbing
Installing or replacing:

- Gas fixtures
- Plumbing fixtures
- Gas meter
- Water heater
Mechanical
Installing or replacing heating, ventilation, or cooling (HVAC) system or components.
Street Use
- 30, 60, and 90-day permits for a dumpster or storage container.
- These permits are not for parking vehicles.
Requirements
To use the tool, all of the following statements must be true:
- You are a pre-approved licensed contractor for the City of Minneapolis.
- The permit is for work on an existing one-or two-family home.
- You contacted us to confirm the work you are doing is eligible.
