About Jamison Whiting

Jamison Whiting was elected in 2025 to represent Ward 11.
Council Member Jamison Whiting

Council Member Jamison Whiting has served on the City Council since 2026 and is the first person of color to represent Ward 11.

As the Ward 11 Council Member, Jamison is focused on advancing police reform, public safety, green infrastructure, and housing policy in addition to strengthening the core City services our residents depend on.

Jamison values transparency, compassion, and consensus-building in his approach to governing and proudly serves as the Chair of the Settlement Agreement Subcommittee and vice-chair of the Enterprise and Labor Relations Committee.

Before joining the City Council, Jamison was a police reform attorney in the Minneapolis City Attorney’s Office, focused on compliance with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) Settlement Agreement and Consent Decree. Previously, he worked as an attorney for Faegre Drinker, one of Minnesota’s largest law firms, specializing in nonprofit and corporate law, and interned for Keith Ellison during his tenure in the U.S. House.

Jamison proudly grew up in Ward 11 and attended Hale Elementary, Field Middle School, and Washburn High School – where he still coaches boys and girls football.

He is excited to build a vibrant, safe, and joyful Minneapolis alongside you all – and encourages interested residents to subscribe to his newsletter for unique bi-weekly updates (also known as scorecards) detailing his City Council votes.
